I started my research on opioid addiction at the Biological Research Center of the Hungarian Academy of Science and got my M.S. degree from biology at the University of Szeged in 2001 in Hungary. I continued biomedical research on ischemic cerebral injury at the University of Hawai'i in the USA between 2001-2005 which work was summarized in my Ph.D. thesis. Before my Ph.D. defense I spent one year at Semmelweis University in Hungary involved in projects including diabetes mellitus and stem cell research. In 2006, I got my Ph.D. degree in Basic Medical Sciences. Afterwards, I continued medical research at New York University on the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer s disease and memory functions. Then, I worked as a science liaison for a biotech company recruiting biomedical research partners in Hungary who have novel concepts and technologies to bring to the US research and development market. Beyond my scientific activities, I also teach and introduce research to undergraduate and graduate students and convey information about science topics to the public. My scientific interest encompasses many areas of neuroscience and molecular biology (see details).

Education

Ph.D. 2006, Semmelweis University, Ph.D. School for Basic Medical Sciences, Budapest, Hungary

M.S. 2001, University of Szeged, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Major in Biology, Specialized in Neurobiology and Cell Biology, Szeged, Hungary

M.Ed. 2001, University of Szeged, Major in Education, Szeged, Hungary

Professional experience

Research Specialist, 2010-present, University of Hawaii, Cancer Research Center, Honolulu, HI

Collaborative Scientist, 2009-2010, Biological Research Center of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Szeged, Hungary

Science Journalist, 2009-present

Scientific Advisor, 2007-2010, BioMedTek.
